A.
  • Play an ascending/descending major five-finger pattern in all keys chromatically.
     
  • Play the following major and harmonic minor scales, hands together for one octave and hands separately for two octaves:

    Major: C, G, D, A, E, F, Bb, Eb, Ab
    Harmonic Minor: c, d, e, f, g, a, b
B.
  • Harmonize a descending major scale pattern in all keys, using the following progression: I, iii, IV, I, ii6, I6/4, V7, I.
C.
  • Improvise accompaniments to melodic lines implementing various styles to include at least three of the following: blocked chords, broken chords, Alberti bass, chord inversions, chord substitutions, and stride LH . Other styles may be substituted with the approval of the Area Coordinator for keyboard. Choose melodies from the approved list to include five different major keys and five different minor keys.
D.
  • Performance of one short work from the literature of the piano at a difficulty level comparable to the following (from memory not required):
  Bach: Selections from the Notebook for Anna Magdalena

Beethoven:
Eccosaise in G

Chopin:
Prelude in E Minor

Kabalevsky:
Toccatina
