Scholarship List

Music Scholarships are awarded to those individuals whose ability, achievement, desire or goals merit recognition. The Lee University Scholarship Committee recommends these individuals to the School of music based on scholarship applications received. Available scholarships include:

MUSIC ENSEMBLE SCHOLARSHIPS
The following music ensembles offer scholarships to ensemble members based upon service, performance and personal needs of the ensemble:
  • Campus Choir
  • Chamber Orchestra
  • Chorale
  • Jazz Ensemble
  • Ladies of Lee
  • Lee Singers
  • Pep Band
  • Percussion Ensemble
  • Symphonic Band
  • Voices of Lee
  • Wind Ensemble

ENDOWMENT SCHOLARSHIPS:
The following endowment scholarships are awarded by the Lee University Scholarship Committee upon recommendation of the School of Music:

Delton L. Alford Scholarship
Awarded on the basis of scholarship, performing ability, and need.

Jim Burns Scholarship
With priority given to members of the Lee Singers, awarded on the basis of musical ability, financial need and service to Lee Singers.

Church Music Committee Scholarship
Awarded to a student enrolled as a music major and who is committed to the ministry of music in the church. Major consideration shall be given to academic performance and financial need.

Reverend Winston Clark Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is enrolled as a full-time student in the area of religion or music.

Charles Edward "Rick" Compton Scholarship
Available first to siblings of Rick Compton, then to members of the Logan, West Virginia Church of God, then to students from West Virginia.  Special consideration shall be given to applicants enrolled in the School of Music.

Bill and Betty Higginbotham Scholarships
Available to music majors on the following priorities: first, students from Southern Hills Church of God in Oklahoma City; second, to students from the state of Oklahoma; and third, to any student enrolling or enrolled in Lee University.

Ruby Horton Piano Performance Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman music major with piano as the primary performance area.

Celeste Ann Marley Scholarships
Endowed by Mr. and Mrs. Guy P. Marley of Atlanta, Georgia, in memory of their daughter, Celeste Ann. Awarded on the basis of performance, scholarship and need.

Lee Marley Vocal Performance Scholarship
Awarded to an incoming freshman music major with voice as the primary performance area.

Music Department Performance Scholarships
A limited number of departmental scholarships are awarded to students demonstrating performance ability in applied music.

Pathway Music Scholarship
Established by Pathway Press and Pathway Music for students at Lee University who are preparing to enter the full-time ministry in the church.

Anne Marie Thacker Music Scholarship
Awarded to a student who is majoring in music with piano as the principal performance area.  The award will be based upon performance ability, scholarship, and financial need.

Band Scholarships
Service scholarships available to students, regardless of major, for successful participation in the Lee University Symphonic Band, the Lee University Wind Ensemble, and the Lee University Jazz Ensemble.

Nelia Jeffords Scholarship
Established by Nelia Jeffords and friends and the collegiate Sertoma Club.  Applicants must be enrolled full-time pursuing a graduate degree in music.

Phillips, Craig & Dean - Sparrow Foundation Scholarship
"Priority given to a student in the School of Music majoring in music performance, music education, or church music, OR a student in the School of Religion majoring in pastoral ministry."

Presser Foundation Scholarship
"The Presser Foundation Scholarship is a $4,000 scholarship awarded annually to the School of Music's most outstanding music major at the end of the student's junior year for use in his/her senior year.  The Presser Scholar is selected by the President of the University upon recommendation from the Dean of the School of Music who shall be guided solely by consideration of merit."  The student selected is identified by the music faculty and the decision communicated by the Dean of the School of Music to the Presser Foundation with a brief statement about the student.  The scholarship is awarded for one year only.

The Diane Belisle Scholarship
First priority will be given to immediate family members and relatives, then to students studying to become full-time music ministers.

The Ofelia and Hiram Bob Scholarship
Priority shall be given to students who are dependents of a minister or who are studying to be a pastor, youth minister, music minister or missionary.

The Department of Music Ministries Scholarship
Awarded to a music major that is committed to the ministry of music in the church.  Major consideration will be given to academic performance and financial need.

The A. T. Humphries Music Scholarship
Applicants must be enrolled as full-time students in the School of Music.  Major consideration will be given to the potential academic performance and financial need of each applicant as recommended by the faculty of the School of Music to the Financial Aid Committee.

The Lee Singers Scholarship
Applicants may be enrolled in any academic division with recommendations made by the Director of Lee Singers.

The Renate Lupke Scholarship
Priority will be given to a full-time student who is a "promising" young musician and a member of the Voices of Lee.

Roosevelt Miller Scholarship
Awarded to a full-time Lee University student who is a member of the Ladies of Lee.  First priority will be for student conductor, then accompanist, next for any music major in the Ladies of Lee.

OTHER SCHOLARSHIP POSSIBILITIES:
A number of scholarships not specifically designed for music majors are available through the Admissions Office.  They include:

The Dr. Stanley B. and Dorothy G. Rupy Ministerial Students Scholarship
Designed for students in all majors preparing for Christian ministry, including music ministry.

The Roberson Memorial Leadership Scholarship
Awarded to full-time applicants who have shown outstanding leadership ability.  Special consideration will be given to students who have demonstrated successful leadership, character and service in school activities, church ministry or community service programs.
