The performances of tenor Ron Brendel have been
heralded as “effortlessly professional… strongly
lyric…memorable” in opera, oratorio and recital.
As an opera singer, Brendel shines brightest in
the Mozart tenor roles of Cosi fan tutte,
Die Zauberflöte, and Der
Shauspieldirektor. He is equally at home in
the contemporary operas of Britten, most notably
The Turn of the Screw and Owen
Wingrave. Other roles include Goro, Ferrando,
Alfred and Ernesto, and many others. He has sung
with the Treasure Coast Opera, Springfield
Regional Opera, South Florida Opera, the
Lakeland Imperial Symphony, Central Florida Bach
Festival, Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, Bar
Harbor Arts Festival, and others. In the summer
of 2004, he and his wife, soprano Chery Brendel,
performed a recital of Schumann Lieder at the
Schumann Konservatorium in Zwickau, Germany, and
did voice study with Renate Faltin at the
Hochschule für Musik in Berlin, Germany. With
his wife, he has been a featured vocal music
clinician for various church organizations in
Florida and New Jersey. He has presented
conference papers on aspects of Britten’s vocal
music at College Music Society conferences, and
the Hawaii International Conference on Arts and
Humanities, as well as the University of South
Florida and the University of Miami. Mr.
Brendel’s solo engagements are managed by
Richard Realmuto Artists Management of New York
City.
Ron Brendel holds the Bachelor of Music
Education degree from Evangel College in
Springfield, Missouri, and the Master of Music
and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees in voice
performance from Temple University in
Philadelphia, where he was awarded full
scholarship for doctoral work.
Ron Brendel is on the music faculty of Lee
University in Cleveland, Tennessee, where he
lives with his wife, coloratura soprano Chery
Brendel, and their 9 year old daughter Anna
Marie.
