Special Adjunct Instructor in Music
Known for her vocals and original music,
Paula Archer-Wyatt is one of Lee
University’s School of Music Special
Adjunct Faculty. She has completed
53 graduate hours at the University of
Tennessee at Knoxville in Studio Music
and Jazz, Applied Composition, and Music
Education.
Most recently, Paula has completed Treasures of
the Heart – a jazz CD of her original tunes
performed by her jazz quintet and endorsed by
the legendary jazz bassist Rufus Reid. She
has performed with Donald Brown, David Baker,
the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and even did a
season at Dollywood (where she holds the
distinction as being the first female musician).
She teaches and has taught classes in Music
Theory, Piano Class, Ear Training, Applied
Piano, Applied Composition, Improvisation, The
Singing Actor (teamed with Oscar Kosarin), Small
Jazz Ensemble and Jazz Ensemble Lab. She
co-leads the musical group “PAGE 1” with her
husband and musical partner, Alan Wyatt (also an
instructor at Lee University ), and continues in
her professional career as a commercial singer
and songwriter. She has written several
compositions (jazz/show/Christian) that have
been performed widely throughout the Southern
United States; was showcased on the live radio
program, Improvisations, sang for Albert Gore,
Jr. Richard Fulton, etc; worked for and with
directors such as Mark Moffet and Christopher
Schario (New York City) and Albert Harris (Los
Angeles); musically directed shows for Oak Ridge
Playhouse, Bijou Theatre, Maryville College,
Lincoln Memorial University; performed in shows
Evita, 1940’s Radio Hour, Vices: An Addictive
Musical, The Pajama Game, etc; performed
extensively throughout the greater Southeastern
U. S. in churches, concert halls, clubs, and
city-wide festivals. Paula has been the guest
vocalist/artist in events to numerous to
mention.
She continues to sing, compose, sequence and
play keyboards professionally along with her
responsibilities at Lee University. Paula
plans to complete her Master’s degree in Jazz
Vocals and Composition in the near future.
