Assistant Professor of Music
Since coming to Lee in the fall of 2000, Donald
has taught in the areas of church music, music
theory and piano. In previous years, he
also conducted the Ladies of Lee and the Chapel
Choir. His passion is to train musicians
who will excel in music ministry, their
knowledge of music theory and their relationship
with the Lord.
After graduating from Lee, Donald attended the
Florida State University and received a M.M. in
Music Theory. His primary research was on tonal
coherence in Verdi’s Requiem. Currently,
Donald is completing a D.M.A. in Sacred Music
from the University of Memphis. His
dissertation focuses on the history of the
Tennessee Music and Printing Company’s Church
Hymnal (the old red-back), as well as the
history of gospel music and its composers.
His work experience includes several years of
music ministry at churches in Tallahassee,
Florida, and Olive Branch, Mississippi.
The son of a former missionary, his ministry
overseas has included serving as a guest
lecturer at the Church of God Seminary in
Moscow, Russia, and as an assistant teacher at
the European Bible Seminary in Rudersberg,
Germany.
In the summer of 2002, he married the former
Shannon Bishop. They are proud parents of
Jackson Todd born on February 22, 2004.
