Janet Hale is Principal Flutist of the CSO
Orchestra and Flutist of the CSO Wind Quintet.
She has played flute in the CSO Orchestra since
1972, when she moved to Chattanooga from
Knoxville after graduating from the University
of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Music degree.
She went on to also earn a Bachelor of Science
degree in Music Education and a Master of Music
degree in Flute Performance. Her teachers were
David VanVactor, Judith Bentley and Warren
Little. She became Band Director at Cleveland
Junior High school and served as faculty member
at the university of Tennessee at Chattanooga
where she taught flute. She also is coordinator
of the Chattanooga Area Flute Society and
Vice-President of the Local 80 Musicians Union
Board.
