Department Chairperson for Vocal Music
LuAnn Holden is assistant professor of
music at Lee University School of Music
in Cleveland , Tennessee where her
teaching responsibilities include music
education methods classes for general
music in the elementary school and
choral music at the secondary level.
Mrs. Holden supervises music education majors
during their student teaching experience as well
as serves as coordinator of the music education
division of the School of Music. For the
past six years, Mrs. Holden has directed the Lee
University Children’s Chorale, a seventy-five
(75) member community chorus consisting of
singers ranging from third to eighth grade.
Mrs. Holden earned a Bachelor of Music Education
degree with vocal emphasis from Wesleyan College
and Masters of Music degree in choral music
education from Georgia State University.
She has been a member of the Atlanta Symphony
Chorus, which was conducted by the legendary
Robert Shaw.
Mrs. Holden brings fifteen years of music
teaching experience in the public schools into
the college classroom. While teaching music in
the schools of Georgia, Mississippi, and
Tennessee, her choirs consistently received
superior ratings at choral festivals. She
received the Tennessee Governor’s School for the
Arts “Outstanding Teacher Award” while choral
director at Bradley Central High School in
Cleveland. Holden is a frequent consultant
in the area of choral rehearsal techniques for
young voices and is also an active choral
clinician and adjudicator.
