Assistant Professor of Music:
Mark Bailey joined the faculty of Lee in 1989 to direct the Lee University Symphonic Band, which, under his supervision, has toured nationally and internationally.  In Dr. Bailey's ninth year as director of the Lee Symphonic band, the group has increased in enrollment from 21 to its present 65.
His graduate work focused on Music Education and wind conducting completing a doctorate at the University of Cincinnati in June 2000.  A graduate of Lee College ('78), he has been listed in outstanding Young Men of America and Who's Who Among University and College Teachers. Dr. Bailey is presently President-elect of the Christian Instrumentalists and Directors Association.  Lee University hosted the bi-annual meeting of CIDA in 1999.

Prior to his arrival at Lee, Dr. Bailey had served as Coordinator of Music Studies at West Coast Christian College from 1980 to 1983, and Minister of Music at several churches in the denomination.

He and his wife Elizabeth have two children, a daughter, Layne, and a son, Jordan. He enjoys baseball, and from time to time, he dabbles in chess.
