The Lee University Opera Theatre,
directed by Tony Deaton, is a full opera
production ensemble organization,
performing standard operatic literature
ranging in style from the sublime to the
ridiculous.
Previous performances have included such
farcical works as those of P.D.Q. Bach,
as well as the delightful comedies of
Gilbert and Sullivan, and dramatic works
of Menotti and Puccini.
Students are given the opportunity to gain
experience in all aspects of opera production
including musical and staging rehearsals and
performance, as well as making costumes,
securing props, assisting in set construction,
and advertising and publicity.
Graduates of the Opera Theatre have continued
their studies and careers in impressive opera
apprentice programs, and have performed leading
roles with professional opera companies.
Opera Theatre is open to all students regardless
of major.
